Reserve Officers provide a number of valuable support services for the City of Stow Police Department. They are non-sworn volunteers, although they do receive worker's compensation benefits and a small monthly stipend to cover expenses.
Reserve Officers' regular patrol duties include vacation house checks, vehicle lockouts, assisting disabled motorists, and traffic control. Reserve Officers assist with city events, football games, 5K races, parades, Touch-a-Truck, Shop with a Cop, and Trick-or-Treat. They may also be called upon to assist with weather emergencies. Candidates do not have to be City of Stow residents but are required to be at least 18 years of age and a high school graduate. Candidates must also have a valid driver's license and are subject to a background check. Training, uniforms, and equipment are provided by the unit.
Interested individuals should complete the form below. Applications can be picked up at the Stow Police Department from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. M-F, or requested via email.
