About Bow Wow Beach

Stow's dog park officially opened in June 2007, and has been well received by residents of Stow and the surrounding area. The park is owned by the City of Stow and managed by the Parks and Recreation Department.

The park is not staffed during open hours. It is incumbent upon park users to follow the clearly defined rules. In the event of an emergency at the park, users should call 911. For other dog park-related issues, please contact the Parks and Recreation office at 330-689-5100 during office hours, or email us at parks@stow.oh.us.

The 7.5 acre fenced the park features the following amenities:

  • Sandy beach and grassy knolls
  • 3-acre lake
  • Pen entrances
  • Waste deposit stations
  • Dog washing stations
  • Separate areas for small dogs
  • Clearly defined rules and procedures

Rules

View the Dog Park Flyer Rules (PDF) for Bow Wow Beach rules and regulations.

Hours

Bow Wow Beach is open every day during the season from 8 am until Sunset. *See Maintenance. The season runs from Mid-March to December 1 each year but is also weather dependent.

Maintenance

Bow Wow Beach is CLOSED every Thursday morning during the open season from 8 am until 11 am for weekly park maintenance.

Donations

Bow Wow Beach is owned and operated by the City of Stow. Donations are gratefully accepted. Donations will be collected at the park by Parks and Recreation staff on a daily basis from the new secure donation station. The City funds ongoing costs for the dog park including fencing and fence maintenance, waste bag supply, lake water testing, mowing and weed control, trash collection, beach clean up, and utilities.

Dog Licensing

Licensing your dog is required by Ohio law. The City of Stow requires that dogs be licensed to attend Bow Wow Beach. To obtain a dog license in Summit County, contact the Summit County Fiscal Office - Services Division at 330-630-7226 or visit the Summit County website.

Recent Improvements

Significant improvements to the park were made that will help the park endure the high attendance that is experienced on a daily basis; the erosion control project at the east bank of the lake helps to stabilize that area, and the addition of 500 tons of brand new, clean sand is not only aesthetically pleasing but also contributes to the restoration of the beach. Let's keep it clean!

Construction Information

Demolition of buildings is completed.
