We are thrilled you've chosen Stow for your home. Stow is a dynamic, family friendly community located in the heart of Summit County, Ohio, conveniently situated between Akron and Cleveland. Stow has a long tradition of being a welcoming and friendly community, with opportunities for everyone. We are dedicated to making sure every individual, including senior citizens, children, and people with disabilities, is a vital member of our community.
Stow is fortunate to have an excellent education system, attractive and diverse neighborhoods, beautiful parks and trails, and an overall wonderful quality of life. Stow is home to a vibrant mix of businesses producing a variety of products and providing an abundance of services, shopping and dining. Stow has the allure of a small town, which furthers our strong sense of community.

Special Events
Residents can enjoy many events in the City of Stow including Fourth of July Parade, Summer Sunset Blast, Community Easter Egg Hunt, Haunted Hayride, and the Glow with Stow Holiday Lighting Festival. The Stow Parks and Recreation Department offers a large variety of programs for all age groups, so there is something to appeal to everyone. All events are posted on our City Calendar.
Trash & Recycling
The Kimble Company was selected by the City as the lowest qualified bidder to provide residential curbside trash and recycling collection for the residents of Stow. City Council
Stow City Council consists of seven members: Four members are elected by ward, and three are elected at-large. The president of the City Council is elected by its members at large. For more information please view the City Council page.

The City of Stow relies on volunteer boards and commissions as part of its governmental process. If you are interested in becoming a member of a Stow board or commission, please contact the Mayor's office.

Voting in the City of Stow is overseen by the Summit County Board of Elections.

Taxes
Local income tax is paid through the City of Stow Tax Department. Property taxes are collected by Summit County and sales tax is collected by the State of Ohio.
Planning, Zoning & Economic Development
The Planning and Development Department consists of the following divisions: Planning, Economic Development, Zoning and G.I.S. (Geographic Information Systems). The Department is responsible for planning the future development of Stow, managing current land uses, facilitation of business development, and enforcement of the City's Zoning Code.

The Building and Engineering Departments are responsible for issuing permits and monitoring various aspects of construction for building and engineering projects within the City. Their goal is to protect the public's life, health, safety, and welfare as it relates to construction practices and provide excellent customer service.

The Stow Fire and Police Departments are committed to providing quality law enforcement and fire services to the community. Our residents can take pride in knowing these agencies have a reputation for excellence and work diligently and professionally to make Stow a safe and secure place to live and work.

Community & Parks
With 410 acres of parkland, Stow Parks and Recreation offers 6 neighborhood parks and 4 community parks. Recreation features include: lighted tennis and basketball courts, campgrounds, public fishing venues, softball/baseball complex, arboretum and playgrounds for children of all ages and abilities. In addition, Stow offers 11 miles of hike and bike trails with convenient access throughout the city. All of these amenities contribute to Stow's excellent quality of life and make Stow an ideal place to raise your family.

Fox Den Golf Course
Fox Den is an 18-hole public golf course located in Stow, Ohio. We have a wonderful practice facility with a driving range, 2 large putting greens, and various spots to practice chipping and pitching. On February 1, 2006, the City of Stow became the proud owner of Fox Den Golf Course. The City seized the opportunity to preserve one of the top-rated golf courses in the state of Ohio as a community recreational facility. The golf course is operated under the City's Service Department.
